guineítos verdes
My step-grandmother has been
on the brink of death
since I was 8
my grandfather died
so did many others
and we saw her last week
and we all thought she must be on botox
she brought a suitcase full of green bananas
from our almost forgotten island
and I think she will still be alive
long after the rise of the planet of the apes
making them wonder why nobody can find
a ripe banana in that new primate society.
